On March 23, social media users were abuzz after a traffic accident occurred in Ningbo, Zhejiang.

According to reports, a white Audi sedan was changing lanes on a solid line on the highway when it was rear-ended. As a result, the Audi driver was held fully responsible for the accident.

After contacting the drivers involved, traffic police indicated that the accident occurred due to the lane change on the solid line.

Authorities reminded drivers to use their turn signals before changing lanes and to pay attention to the speed, distance, and reaction time of vehicles behind them. Drivers should wait until they have established a safe speed and distance from other vehicles before merging.

Under the People's Republic of China Road Traffic Safety Law, drivers who cause rear-end collisions while changing lanes on solid lines will usually be held fully responsible.

The law requires that vehicles traveling in the same lane maintain a safe following distance from the car in front, sufficient for emergency braking to avoid rear-end collisions. s_f2eb1dde05d546ebb9a8d8b7966b5e44.png
