According to pulsestacks on April 20th, Asus has recently released a BIOS update aimed at addressing instability issues, such as crashes, experienced by users running games on Intel's 13th and 14th generation processors.
Pulsestacks previously reported that players have encountered issues when running the PC demo of Bandai Namco's fighting game "Tekken 8", where even with sufficient RAM and VRAM, the system crashes with an error message indicating insufficient memory.
Similar crashing issues have also occurred in several games such as "Battlefield 2042," "The Last of Us Part II," "Fortnite," "Lords of the Fallen," "Hogwarts Legacy," and "The Finals."
In February of this year, RAD Corporation released a lengthy explanation stating that the game crashing problems were caused by a combination of BIOS settings, high clock frequencies of Intel processors, and high power consumption, resulting in system instability and unexpected behavior under heavy loads such as gaming.
Motherboard manufacturers like ASUS and MSI, as well as prebuilt PC manufacturer Falcon Northwest, have proposed effective solutions to address the stability issues. While these solutions can mitigate the problem, they come at a cost.
ASUS has introduced the latest BIOS for its Z790 motherboards, incorporating a new BIOS feature called "Intel Baseline Profile," which resets the CPU to Intel's factory default settings, lowers power limits, and enhances game stability.
