On March 15th, ASUS has announced the release of a new BIOS update, expanding support for DDR5 memory on their Intel 600/700 series motherboards and AMD 600 series motherboards, enabling compatibility with single 64GB memory modules.

Simultaneously, the maximum memory capacity for motherboards equipped with four DIMM slots has been raised to 256GB, while those with two DIMM slots can now support up to 128GB. Notably, motherboards on the AM5 platform require no BIOS update for this functionality. s_9c8af59952d4438f910aab8534582a0d.jpg ASUS states that for users with ITX motherboards having only 2 DIMM slots or those who wish to utilize high-frequency DDR5 memory, they have catered to the pursuit of using large capacity memory in PC systems.

Currently, ASUS has provided a list detailing motherboard models that support single 64GB memory modules along with the corresponding BIOS versions.

Furthermore, Intel 600/700 series and AMD 600 series motherboards from various manufacturers now generally support single 24/48GB memory configurations, departing from the past trend of doubling memory capacities. Boards equipped with 4 DIMM slots now offer a maximum memory capacity of 192GB, while those with 2 DIMM slots support up to 96GB, providing users with more flexibility in their choices. s_b1b8e019199f4c7a86f286f1a320cf3a.jpg
