According to a recent listing from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Apple Inc. has been granted a patent related to the Apple Watch, highlighting a solution for an under-screen camera that can be utilized for capturing photos, Face ID authentication, as well as tracking faces and objects.
Based on the patent design sketches, the camera can be concealed beneath the screen, with the display panel potentially featuring a highly transparent area to enhance the light transmission to the camera module without affecting regular usage. The size of this highly transparent area may depend on various parameters of the camera module, including the field of view, entrance pupil size and position, lens barrel dimensions, F number, etc. Collaborative design of the highly transparent area with the camera module parameters aims to achieve a smaller transparent area and better camera module performance.
