According to reports on April 15th, it has been disclosed by Chairman Lin En of Largan Precision that the plastic prism developed by the company has passed customer tests, although its incorporation into products remains uncertain. It is widely speculated that the customer referred to by Lin En is likely Apple. Market analysts suggest that the biggest selling point of last year's iPhone 15 series was the inclusion of periscope lenses in the Pro models, exclusively supplied by Largan Precision. Additionally, prisms have been added as key components, with each periscope lens equipped with two glass prisms supplied by Crystal Optoelectronics.
CNMO has learned that the iPhone 15 Pro Max features a four-prism lens, which is a hybrid of glass and plastic known as 1G3P. It consists of four lenses: three plastic lenses and one glass lens. This hybrid lens draws advantages from both glass and plastic materials, eliminating potential issues that devices may encounter with an all-glass design.
However, Apple is not the only company utilizing this technology. It is reported that the Huawei P70 Art is also expected to adopt the glass-plastic hybrid technology. Analysts predict that the use of glass-plastic hybrid lenses in the iPhone 15 Pro Max and P70 Art signifies a new key trend in the lens industry, with other high-end models from different brands likely to follow suit in the future.
