In a relentless pursuit of secrecy surrounding its upcoming products, Apple has unveiled its legal claws against insider leaks. These leaks, often sprouting online before the official product launches, are primarily sourced from Apple's own employees or its intricate web of suppliers.
However, under Apple's strict confidentiality agreements, both its employees and suppliers are bound to maintain utmost secrecy regarding unreleased products.
As per recent reports, the Superior Court of Santa Clara County, California, has made public a lawsuit where Apple takes legal action against its former employee, Andrew Aude.
Apple accuses Aude of disclosing sensitive company information, thereby gravely violating confidentiality agreements. The tech giant is demanding compensation exceeding $25,000 (approximately 180,000 RMB).
Aude, who joined Apple in 2016, held a position overseeing battery performance optimization during his tenure, granting him access to a trove of highly classified project details.
According to Apple's complaint, over the span of five years, Aude persistently leaked numerous confidential details, including those of at least six products, notably the Vision Pro.
Moreover, he divulged Apple's product development policies, regulatory compliance strategies, and even sensitive information regarding staffing changes across various departments.
Apple contends that Aude's actions not only pose a "continuing threat" to the company but also undermine the excitement and delight new products bring to consumers. Consequently, Apple staunchly demands compensation for losses incurred, along with the forfeiture of Aude's bonuses and equity.
