Apple Cracks Down on European Version iPhone "Leakage"! Unable to Use Third-Party Stores After 30 Days Abroad

On March 8th, Apple rolled out the official version of iOS 17.4, with the biggest improvement being the support for "sideloading" functionality in the European Union (EU) region, allowing users to download and install apps from third-party app stores.

However, in order to prevent the leakage of European version iPhones, Apple previously announced that users who stay abroad for a "long time" would not be able to use third-party app stores.

Today, Apple issued another announcement, specifying this "long time" as 30 days.

Apple stated that for their devices to be eligible for use, the country or region of the Apple ID must be set to the EU region, and users must physically be located within the EU, as Apple conducts "geolocation checks" on the device.

When users leave the area of EU member states, they can still open and use apps previously installed through third-party app stores.

Within 30 days of leaving the EU region, users can continue to update these apps through third-party app stores and manage previously installed apps using third-party app stores.

However, users must be within the EU to install third-party app stores and to install new apps through third-party app stores. s_93cd47f91a984250884e3516bc7f1222.jpg
