Apple aims to double the value of iPhone production in India to $14 billion

According to recent reports, Apple Inc. is stepping up its investment in India.

In the previous fiscal year, Apple assembled iPhones worth $14 billion in India, doubling its production value.

Sources reveal that currently, as much as 14% of iPhones are made in India, accounting for about one-seventh of its global output.

It's noted that Foxconn Technology and Wistron together represent nearly 67% and about 17% of iPhone assembly in India, respectively, as of the fiscal year ending March 2024.

For Apple, global iPhone sales are on a decline, especially with a 4% year-on-year drop in February sales, primarily in the US, India, and Chinese markets.

In the quarter ending March 31st, Apple sold around 51 million iPhones, down from 56 million units during the same period last year.

Analysts suggest that without significant growth in the Indian market, global iPhone sales are unlikely to see an increase, given the weakened demand in the US and Chinese markets.

Over time, more users will inevitably adopt iPhones manufactured in India, making this trend difficult to evade. s_5ca113322f8844989305f30b5f1a1185.jpg
