On April 17th, it was reported that in the iPhone 14 Pro series, Apple increased the pixel count of the main camera from 12 million to 48 million, but the ultra-wide-angle lens still maintains the level of 12 million pixels.

Even in the iPhone 15 Pro series, the 12 million pixel ultra-wide-angle lens remained standard for Apple. However, according to media reports, this situation will change with the iPhone 16 Pro.

It is reported that the ultra-wide-angle lenses of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be upgraded to 48 million pixels. The main reason for Apple's significant increase in ultra-wide-angle pixels this time is to achieve 4K spatial video recording function for the iPhone.

Although the previous generation iPhone 15 Pro series already supports recording spatial videos, the resolution is only 1080P. However, in the iPhone 16 Pro series, with the 48 million pixel ultra-wide-angle lens, the resolution of spatial videos will be increased to 4K level.

When shooting spatial videos, the main camera and ultra-wide-angle camera of the iPhone will record simultaneously. The system will automatically adjust the field of view captured by the ultra-wide-angle camera to match the main camera, and then merge them into one video file.

On the iPhone, spatial videos are presented in the form of conventional 2D videos, while on the Vision Pro, they are presented in 3D form, creating a more stunning visual effect. s_5ecece0cebee4359b7d58f1477605e94.png
