Another Tesla Executive Resigns, Citing Morale Hit from Layoffs and Dim Future Outlook

On May 10th, Rich Otto, Tesla's Product Release Director, announced his resignation last week amidst the company's large-scale layoffs.

In a LinkedIn post, Otto expressed, "It's a company I deeply love, one that has given me much, but also ruthlessly taken much..." He further stated, "Great companies need great talent and great products, the latter of which can only thrive in an environment where employees flourish. Recent layoffs have shaken the company's morale, disrupted this harmony, and made it hard to see a long-term future. It's time for a change."

According to his LinkedIn profile, Otto has been with Tesla for over six years. He mentioned he will cherish many aspects of his time at Tesla and plans to take a break before diving into his next project.

Both Otto and a Tesla spokesperson have not immediately responded to requests for comments.

Otto joins a list of several executives who have left Tesla in the past month. Six executives, including the Senior HR Executive and Senior Supercharger Executive, have departed in this round of layoffs.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk informed employees on April 15th about plans to cut over 10% of the company's workforce. This week marks the fourth week of Tesla issuing layoff notices.
