Annual Complaint Analysis Summary Report for 2023 Reveals Highest Proportion of Complaints on "Price Changes" for Independent Brands!

March 15th News - CarQuality.com today released the Annual Complaint Analysis Summary Report for 2023.

It is reported that throughout the year 2023, a total of 168,725 valid complaints from consumers regarding the quality and service issues of automotive products were handled (including 102 complaints from third-party platforms and aftermarket tire complaints), representing a 25.4% increase compared to 2022, marking the second consecutive year of double-digit year-on-year growth.

Among them, a total of 1,524 models from 252 domestic automotive brands were involved.

Data shows that in 2023, both independent and joint venture brands saw significant increases in complaints compared to 2022, with independent brands experiencing the largest increase, rising by 35.5% year-on-year, with complaints accounting for an additional 3.5 percentage points, reaching the highest point in nearly 10 years.

While complaints against joint venture brands have seen some growth, the proportion of complaints has decreased by 2.8 percentage points.

In terms of vehicle models, compact SUVs topped the list in 2023 with the highest number of complaints, becoming the model with the highest number of complaints in 2023, with a 13.2% year-on-year increase.

In terms of complaint types, the number and proportion of complaints solely related to quality issues have rebounded compared to 2022, surpassing 110,000 for the first time in history.

It is worth mentioning that "Price Changes" emerged as the dark horse of the year, appearing for the first time with complaints exceeding ten thousand, accounting for nearly 80% of the total.

Additionally, complaints related to "suspected design flaws" have seen a significant increase, with a year-on-year increase of over 1.7 times, mainly coming from some independent brand new energy vehicle models.

Overall, "Price Changes" has become the complaint point with the highest proportion for independent, joint venture, and imported brands, especially for independent brands, where it accounts for over 80% of the total.
