Fri, Apr 05 2024 06:49 AM EST

Pulsestacks reports on March 30th that the Android 15 DP2 version introduces a newly designed volume control panel, featuring significant UI changes. So far, Google has released two Android 15 developer preview versions, giving us a sneak peek at what's to come in the stable release this fall. According to new findings by Android sleuth Mishaal Rahman, Android 15 will bring a completely redesigned volume panel, transforming the adjustment slider from a thin bar to a thicker one, and it includes a one-tap mute function. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0330%2F76db83f4j00sb5tat006vd000q200dzg.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg ▲ Android 15 Volume Control Panel ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0330%2Fb1fcce94j00sb5tat0069d000q200ilg.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg

Rahman notes that the media slider only appears on the panel when there's content playing on the device; otherwise, all five controls are displayed when there's no media playing. Each slider has a dot at its end to indicate the maximum volume for each option.
Additionally, he discovered evidence of features like "Noise Control" and spatial audio in the redesigned volume panel, though they're currently not activatable.
In terms of details, the text on the volume sliders cleverly adjusts as the user increases or decreases the volume, ensuring the slider's name is always visible. An animated demonstration by pulsestacks is shown below:
