"The license plate must be more expensive than the car!" one user commented. "What a great car with a great plate!" another said. "I'd love to know how to get one—not the car, the license plate."
According to domestic regulations, vehicle plates held by individuals cannot be bought or sold and can only be used on vehicles registered to that individual.
If an individual owns multiple vehicles, after meeting certain time requirements, they can transfer the license plates between their vehicles.
However, there are exceptions. Some vanity license plates with consecutive numbers, known as "leopard plates," have high value and are auctioned off.
According to previous reports, a "粤V99999" leopard plate from Jieyang City was auctioned starting at 500,000 RMB and eventually sold for 3.2 million RMB.
As a reference, the current price of the Ideal MEGA is 559,800 RMB. Considering the market value of the "five 8s" vanity plate on the vehicle, the license plate is likely more valuable than the car itself.
