On April 21st, news broke that the next generation of Ryzen processors based on the AMD Zen5 architecture is set to launch later this year. These new processors will continue to utilize the AM5 socket interface, ensuring seamless compatibility with existing AM5 600 series motherboards. Asus has taken the lead by being the first to publicly offer a comprehensive lineup of BIOS updates.
On the ASUS official website, there are now new BIOS updates available for all 47 models of the 600 series motherboards, paving the way for the arrival of the latest Ryzen processors.
These include: 11 X670E models, 2 X670 models, 3 B650E models, 22 B650 models, and 9 A620 models.
The underlying microcode version of the new BIOS is AGESA 1.1.7.0, and the series has been upgraded from ComboPi to FireRangePi.
It's expected that other motherboard manufacturers will follow suit and release new BIOS updates for their 600-series motherboards soon.
The release date for the Zen5 desktop Ryzen remains unknown, but announcements are anticipated at the Taipei Computer Show. It's speculated that it might be officially launched and hit the market in the later part of the third quarter or even the fourth quarter.
