AMD announced the latest iteration of its FidelityFX Super Resolution technology, FSR 3.1, at GDC 2024 on March 21st.

FSR 3.1 is slated to become available to game developers in Q2 of this year, with implementation in games expected later this year.

Updates in FSR 3.1 focus on improving image quality, including increased temporal stability for both still and moving images, reduced ghosting, and preserved fine detail.

The new version of FSR also decouples super resolution from frame generation, allowing the FSR 3.1 frame generation tech to be used in combination with other super resolution solutions.

AMD also introduced a new FidelityFX API, which simplifies debugging for developers and ensures forward compatibility.

As a demonstration, AMD showcased the image quality improvements of FSR 3.1 in "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart."

Currently, there are 40 FSR 3 games available or in development. Of these, 19 have been updated with FSR 3 support, with a further 21 games on the way. S17b8a0e0-17c7-4d9e-81df-78064211d888.jpg
