AMD Expands Commercial AI PC Product Portfolio, Delivering Leading Performance for Professional Mobile and Desktop Systems

AMD Ryzen PRO 8040 Series and AMD Ryzen PRO 8000 Series bring advanced x86 processor-driven AI PCs to commercial users.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 16, 2024 — Today, AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) announced the launch of new products, expanding its commercial mobile and desktop AI PC product portfolio, providing business users with outstanding productivity and premium AI and connectivity experiences. The all-new AMD Ryzen PRO 8040 Series mobile processors are advanced x86 processors designed specifically for commercial laptops and mobile workstations. Additionally, AMD also announced the AMD Ryzen PRO 8000 Series desktop processors, the first AI desktop processors tailored for commercial users, aimed at delivering leading performance with low power consumption.

With AMD Ryzen AI embedded in select models, AMD is further extending its leadership in AI PCs. By leveraging CPU, GPU, and dedicated on-chip neural processing units (NPUs), the new Ryzen AI processors offer higher dedicated AI processing capabilities compared to previous generations, with up to 16 dedicated NPU TOPS (trillion operations per second) and an overall compute power of 39 TOPS. Commercial PCs equipped with the new Ryzen AI processors will help transform user experiences, providing next-generation performance for AI-enabled collaboration, content creation, and data and analytics workloads. The AMD Ryzen PRO 8040 Series mobile processors power high-performance professional laptops and mobile workstations

As enterprise customers seek to deploy AI within their PC fleets, the AMD Ryzen PRO 8040 Series mobile processors deliver efficient and uncompromising processing performance for the most demanding business and AI workloads. These processors feature up to 8 high-performance cores, built on an advanced 4nm process and "Zen 4" architecture. Additionally, PCs equipped with Ryzen PRO 8040 Series processors will be among the first to adopt WiFi-7 technology, providing leading connectivity and setting new industry standards.

The top-of-the-line product in this series is the AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 8945HS, featuring 8 cores, 16 threads, 24MB cache, and Radeon 780M graphics. AMD OEM partners, including Lenovo and HP, are rolling out more laptops, mobile workstations, and desktops featuring AMD Ryzen PRO 8040 and 8000 series processors. At this year's HP Amplify Partner Conference, HP announced a range of commercial desktops, workstations, and laptops, including products featuring AMD PRO series processors. These include the HP EliteBook 805 series G11 laptops, HP EliteBook 605 series G11 laptops, HP ProBook 405 series G11 laptops, HP Elite Desktop 805 G9, HP ZBook Power G11, and HP ZBook Firefly G11, all featuring AMD Ryzen PRO 8000 or 8040 series processors.
