On April 13th, it was reported that "hunger promotes longevity, while overeating leads to illness" has some scientific basis to it.

Recently, Lin Shengcai, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at the School of Life Sciences at Xiamen University, stated in an interview that one should not consume more than two meals a day.

Lin Shengcai pointed out that having more than two meals a day is absolutely not advisable. Although some people may feel dizzy if they skip breakfast, this dietary pattern is not suitable for everyone.

He even suggested that it's acceptable to skip a meal or only eat one meal a day, even on weekends.

He explained, "Nature seems to have left a rule that moderate hunger is necessary, as this hunger state triggers biological responses that promote the production of longevity factors. From the perspective of molecular mechanisms, our research indicates that hunger indeed promotes health and longevity."

Furthermore, obesity has long been recognized by the World Health Organization as a chronic disease. It not only affects body shape but also can become a cause of various diseases, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia, among others.

Obesity also has negative effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health, increasing the risk of atherosclerosis, cerebral infarction, and coronary heart disease. Therefore, maintaining healthy eating habits is crucial for maintaining overall health. s_935da83eddc34f73bf474c3a0b319d0c.png
