Both guesses are incorrect—it's Xuwen County in Guangdong!
This small county situated at the southern tip of mainland China is responsible for producing nearly half of the country's pineapples, creating the most spectacular pineapple planting landscape.
Among its towns, Qujie Town in Xuwen County has been acclaimed as the "Home of Chinese Pineapples." In November 2021, it was designated as one of the eleventh batch of national "One Village, One Product" demonstration villages and towns by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. In 2022, it was listed among the towns with a characteristic rural industry with an annual output value exceeding one billion CNY. By August 2023, it was selected as one of the first batch of national agricultural industry strong towns, truly living up to its title as the "Number One Pineapple Town in China."
Surrounding the town of Qujie, pineapple plantations stretch as far as the eye can see, with fields crisscrossing to form a uniquely charming tapestry of tropical agricultural ecology. "China National Geographic" magazine has lauded Xuwen for creating one of China's most spectacular landscapes with its pineapples. Newly planted pineapple plants start off with a blue-green hue, gradually turning green, while those that rot and are then plowed under turn a purplish-gray. Throughout the flowering to fruiting process, pineapples also display a variety of colors; pineapple flowers are purplish-red, and the fruit itself slowly transitions from green to golden yellow. Hence, depending on the growth stage, each pineapple field exhibits a different hue. Coupled with the strikingly colorful terracotta soil, this creates a dreamlike spectrum of seven colors.
