On April 30th, China Southern Airlines held an earnings briefing where company secretary Chen Weihua revealed in response to questions from reporters that the board of directors has approved the purchase of 100 C919 aircraft.

Based on communications with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), the first aircraft is expected to be introduced in August.

According to an announcement by China Southern Airlines on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, data provided by COMAC shows that the catalog price for one C919 aircraft is $99 million, totaling approximately $9.9 billion (around 71.7 billion RMB) for all the aircraft.

This catalog price includes the airframe and engine prices.

China Southern Airlines stated that the agreement was negotiated based on general commercial and industry practices, with the actual total cost determined through fair negotiations by all parties and taking into account the price discount provided by COMAC, which is lower than the catalog price offered by COMAC.

As per the current delivery schedule, the aircraft will be delivered to the company in stages between 2024 and 2031, with the total cost to be paid to COMAC in installments based on the respective delivery schedules of each aircraft from 2024 to 2031.

Prior to China Southern Airlines, both China Eastern Airlines and Air China had separately announced the purchase of 100 C919 aircraft. dbbfe606-5f21-4e34-8a3e-84aaadbe3337.jpg
