On March 5th, it was reported that a mysterious camouflaged test car was spotted by netizens, positioned as a coupe SUV. From the looks of it, its size and design closely resemble the Tesla Model Y. What adds a provocative touch is the inscription on its rear window, stating "Better than Model Y."

Covered in thick camouflage all over, the identity of this vehicle remains shrouded in mystery for now. However, some details hint at possibilities; for instance, its rear design bears a striking resemblance to that of NIO. Combined with known information, it's highly likely that this vehicle is the inaugural model of NIO's sub-brand "Alps." s_b9f6a9d3dabd4253941205d45e1b50a2.png The vehicle is positioned as a pure electric sporty SUV, featuring concealed door handles and sizable wheels, estimated to be around 20 inches. It deviates from the common trend of through-type taillights, resembling the style of older NIO models.

According to previous reports, the inaugural vehicle of NIO's sub-brand Alpine, codenamed "DOM," is scheduled for trial production in July this year, with mass production and market delivery expected in the latter half of the year.

If everything goes smoothly, the vehicle is set to be officially delivered in October this year. NIO has set quite an ambitious target, aiming to deliver tens of thousands of units this year.

It's worth noting that NIO's confidence in Alpine is considerable. During NIO's media communication session last December, Li Bin projected that Alpine's single model could potentially achieve monthly sales of 50,000 to 60,000 units. s_33ba00672a27419d87366fe06fe51e08.png As the new sub-brand of NIO, the Alpine lineup will be developed based on NIO's third-generation technology platform, NT3, targeting the 200,000 to 300,000 CNY new energy vehicle market. The inaugural model, DOM, will directly compete with Tesla's Model Y. Additionally, two other models will be introduced, but specific models are currently unknown.

Reportedly, the DOM will come in approximately 60kWh and 90kWh versions, featuring thinner battery packs to maximize interior space. It will also be compatible with NIO's third-generation battery swap stations and will be equipped with NIO's self-developed next-generation electric motors, as well as 4D millimeter-wave radar.
