The new model maintains consistency with its predecessor in both appearance and configuration. The major change lies in the chip upgrade to the M3, making it the most powerful Air laptop in Apple's history and the industry's first thin and light laptop with a 3nm chip.
The M3 is equipped with an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, boasting 250 billion transistors, 50 billion more than the M2, resulting in a 25% increase in performance. It supports 24GB unified memory, with speeds 20% faster than the M2, and an impressive battery life of up to 18 hours.
Additionally, the M3 chip features a completely new GPU architecture with industry-first dynamic cache functionality. It introduces hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading to Mac for the first time, along with support for various codecs including H.264, HEVC, ProRes, ProRes RAW, and AV1.
On other fronts, the new model retains the narrow-bezel design with a notch display housing a 1080p front camera, Touch ID support, and four speakers.
It's available in silver, space gray, gold, and midnight colors, with a complimentary MagSafe magnetic charging cable in matching color included.
