On March 4th, according to domestic media reports, Dong Mingzhu, during an interview on CCTV's "Dialogue" program, commented that the youth today are too impulsive, believing that obtaining a college degree instantly qualifies them as talented, which she disagrees with.
Dong believes that making money should be the result of achieving success, not something you can simply ask for, and not something that comes automatically with a college diploma.
"I've noticed that many young people don't have a clear vision for their future. They prioritize earning money when looking for a job, without ever considering what they can actually contribute to society," Dong stated.
Earlier this year, Dong personally designed the Gree Rose Air Conditioner, which sparked controversy among netizens for its aesthetics reminiscent of the 1990s, described as "ugly and tacky". Moreover, its price tag of 29,999 CNY was deemed too expensive.
In response to the criticism and comments about her being "tacky", Dong once again responded, "If they say I'm tacky, then so be it. I don't mind."
The Rose Air Conditioner, named "Sensing the Warmth and Cold, Flowers Fill the World", particularly the floor-standing model in two and three horsepower versions, are priced at 29,999 CNY and 32,999 CNY respectively, both prices exceeding those of other models with similar specifications. A limited-time special offer has reduced the prices to 27,999 CNY and 29,999 CNY.
Additionally, Dong addressed the controversy over her previous statement that "young people should not dream of making money." She shared, "I was young once," recalling the early days of the company when some salespeople would replace the company's logo with that of imported brands to make more money. She emphasized, "It's essential to earn money, but not to live solely for that purpose, as it leads to unscrupulous behavior."
