Exciting news for Wuhan's education landscape as a new campus of a prestigious university is set to open in September.
On February 26th, Liu Ziqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Working Committee of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, along with Tang Chao, Vice Secretary of the Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee, paid a special visit to Wuhan University of Technology. They held discussions with Xin Sijin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Wuhan University of Technology, and Yang Zongkai, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and President, to accelerate the construction progress of the university's Chegu Campus.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in the ongoing development of education infrastructure in the region. Last July saw the establishment of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Excellence Engineers at Wuhan University of Technology, which will be located in the Chegu Campus of Wuhan University of Technology. This institute aims to explore a collaborative development model between universities and regions, focusing on strategic emerging industries and cutting-edge technologies such as new energy and new materials. It will address the innovation and development needs of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, tackle key technological challenges in related industries, achieve significant scientific and technological breakthroughs, cultivate top-notch innovative talents, and contribute to the high-quality development of the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.
The Chegu Campus of Wuhan University of Technology, a collaborative project between the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone and Wuhan University of Technology, is one of the major industrial projects in Hubei Province aimed at establishing Wuhan as a national center for scientific and technological innovation and the comprehensive national scientific center in East Lake, Hubei Province. The Chegu Campus is planned to house the AI Integrated Demonstration College, the Industrial Technology Research Institute for New Energy Vehicles, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence. In the three major fields of intelligent vehicles, intelligent transportation, and intelligent manufacturing, seven innovation platforms will be established, including new energy vehicles and key components, intelligent connected vehicles, and intelligent transportation technology. Currently, the main structure of the Chegu Campus has been completed, and interior decoration and electromechanical installation are progressing rapidly. It is scheduled to be put into use in September this year, welcoming its first batch of faculty and students.
