OPPO Unveils AR Concept Glasses: AI Integration Riding the Wave of Innovation

海外网 Sat, Mar 02 2024 12:31 AM EST

On February 27, according to the report from the American Consumer News and Consumer Website on February 26, OPPO unveiled augmented reality (AR) concept glasses with a voice assistant at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). This highlights how Chinese smartphone manufacturers are leveraging artificial intelligence models to bring innovative interactive experiences to their products.

The AR glasses are reported to project digital content into users' real-life scenarios, and the introduced voice assistant functionality is supported by OPPO's own large language model, AndesGPT. Similar to the rapid adoption of ChatGPT over the past year and a half, extensively trained large language models can offer multifaceted assistance in chat scenarios.

With the breakthrough and explosive popularity of artificial intelligence technology, traditional electronic product manufacturers are increasingly focusing on how multimodal AI technologies can bring new experiential features to their devices. Apple introduced Vision Pro earlier this year, while Meta's Quest series dominates the VR space. Chinese tech company Xreal, backed by investments from Alibaba and others, launched the new Air 2 series last year.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) survey, the shipment volume of AR devices in 2023 was only 500,000 units. However, IDC predicts that by 2027, this number could increase to 6.8 million units. (Chen Weidong)
