On March 1st, it was reported by foreign media that Mercedes-Maybach has officially abandoned its production plan for the ultimate luxury concept car.
It's been reported that the car made its debut at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show and was originally slated for an official release in 2025, with sales limited to the Chinese market.
According to reports, Mercedes acknowledged in a statement that the development of the SUS is on hold due to its complexity and high cost, making it unfeasible for production.
The company claims to have sold a significant number of electric vehicles in China, covering all major niche markets: "To reduce complexity, we have decided to temporarily discontinue the China-specific additional vehicle project based on the EVA2 architecture.
In terms of appearance, the vehicle has a highly distinctive design, combining elements of an SUV and a sedan, officially referred to as a Sport Utility Sedan (SUS).
Looking at the side profile, the upper half of the vehicle resembles a thickened sedan with smooth curves, while the oversized chrome wheels and the very high ground clearance below give it more of an SUV appearance, adding a bold and commanding presence.
In terms of the rear end, the new car adopts a completely new design approach. The rear window features a two-segment design, while the square-shaped tail lights are minimalist yet luxurious in appearance.
As for dimensions, the car measures 5260mm in length, 2108mm in width, and 1778mm in height.
As a luxury model, the car's interior features a lavish array of premium materials such as high-quality leather, wood accents, and rose gold decorations, complemented by a chrome-plated steering wheel, exuding opulence.
Additionally, it boasts a four-seat layout, designed for easy conversation among passengers, with the added convenience of a rear tea table provided by Maybach.
In terms of power, the concept car was initially planned to be produced on the EVA2 platform, equipped with an all-wheel-drive system. Its four motors are capable of producing 760 horsepower. The vehicle also comes with an 80 kWh battery pack, offering a pure electric range of up to 550 kilometers.
