On February 28th, the World Car Awards announced the top three finalists for the year 2024 at the Geneva Motor Show.
In this selection, BYD's Seal and Dolphin models stood out among many competitors, making it to the top three in the "World Car of the Year" and "World Urban Car" categories, respectively, and advancing to the final round.
Although several Chinese cars competed in the last edition of the World Car of the Year awards, none secured an award.
It's worth mentioning that BYD is also the first and only Chinese automaker in the history of the World Car Awards to make it to the top three finalists for the "World Car of the Year".
It's understood that the "World Car Awards" along with the "European Car of the Year" and the "North American Car of the Year" are collectively known as the top three car awards in the world.
Among these, the "World Car Awards" targets models from around the globe and is often referred to as the "Oscars of the automotive world." It's one of the international automotive industry's most anticipated events.
In this selection, BYD's Seal and Dolphin models won the favor of over 100 professional automotive journalists from 29 countries, thanks to their unique design, innovative technology, and safety performance.
As star models of BYD, in 2023, both the Seal and Dolphin received five-star safety ratings from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). Additionally, the Seal was also shortlisted for the 2024 European Car of the Year top seven.
