On February 28th, during MWC24, Huawei unveiled the F5G Full OptiCampus 2.0 Solution, touted as the premier solution for 10 Gigabit campus networks.
Gu Yunbo, President of Huawei's Enterprise Optical Domain, noted that Huawei first introduced the Full OptiCampus 1.0 Solution to the industry in 2016, pioneering the IP+POL converged campus network architecture. Currently, it has been deployed in over 8,000 campuses across 50 countries worldwide.
The F5G Full OptiCampus 2.0 Solution is based on two key technologies: XGS-PON Pro and Wi-Fi 7, offering four major upgrades compared to the 1.0 solution:
Bandwidth Upgrade: Leveraging the groundbreaking XGS-PON Pro technology, achieving 25Gbps to the room, 10Gbps to AP, and 2.5Gbps to the desktop, a 150% increase in access bandwidth. Also, introducing the industry's first enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 7 optical terminal, the W827E.
Networking Upgrade: End-to-end hard slicing, supporting up to 8 hard-isolated private networks, enabling the convergence of multiple networks such as office and production without the need for redundant network construction, reducing overall network TCO by 30%.
Experience Upgrade: Ensuring deterministic experience for critical business through hard-isolated private networks; innovative C-WAN algorithm achieving seamless Wi-Fi roaming in under 20ms; introducing POL Analyzer for visualizing user Wi-Fi experience.
Operation and Maintenance Upgrade: NCE-Campus network management platform now supports unified management of IP+POL, enabling simplified management with one person per campus.
Traditionally, campus wiring often utilizes Category 5 or higher Ethernet cables, with a maximum bandwidth supporting only 2.5Gbps, requiring rewiring when upgrading to Wi-Fi 7.
In contrast, Huawei's Full OptiCampus solution employs optical fiber, known for its high bandwidth, low cost, long lifespan, and environmental friendliness. With a single installation lasting worry-free for 30 years, the trend of optical fiber replacing copper in campus evolution is unstoppable.
