Huawei Announces Initiation of Multiple Digital Talent Development Initiatives at Talent Summit 2024

[Barcelona, Spain, February 26, 2024] Huawei held its Talent Summit during the 2024 World Mobile Congress, where it announced the initiation of several talent development initiatives. Among them, the 'Connected Generation' Youth Leadership Program, a collaboration between Huawei and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), officially opened its global recruitment. Additionally, a collaborative project between Huawei and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) will kick off in Morocco, while the Huawei Cloud Startup Program targeting global entrepreneurs was also unveiled.

Representatives from international organizations such as ITU and UNESCO, as well as dignitaries from Greece, Kenya, Mexico, and ASEAN, were invited to attend the event, where discussions centered around the theme of "Nurturing Excellent ICT Talent for the Digital World." The summit also featured participation from female industry leaders, Huawei Cloud Startup Program entrepreneurs, and representatives of several "Future Seeds" and top competition students. Mario Maniewicz, Director of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau, spoke at the summit on behalf of Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of ITU, announcing the launch of the Huawei-ITU "Connected Generation" Youth Leadership Program. He encouraged young people aged 18-28 to submit their community project plans aimed at bridging the digital divide. These projects stand to receive funding, guidance, and training to facilitate their implementation. Last year, Huawei joined UNESCO's Global Alliance for Literacy (GAL) and signed a cooperation agreement with its Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). Isabell Kempf, Director of UIL, emphasized the importance of empowering education workers in her speech and announced the official launch of the collaboration project. She said, "We are working to implement a digital skills enhancement program for literacy educators. Today, I am proud to announce that this project is also set to launch in Morocco, where we will support 10,000 young people, literacy teachers, trainers, and managers to enhance their literacy teaching and professional development capabilities."

Finally, Huawei announced its sponsorship of the 2024 European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI), encouraging more girls to participate in the tech industry and promoting gender equality in community digital inclusion and the field of technology. Representatives from regions and organizations such as Greece, Kenya, Mexico, and ASEAN shared insights at the summit about Huawei's local talent development programs. Ms. Duan Xiaolei, General Manager of Global Startup Ecosystem Development at Huawei Cloud, introduced the Empower Acceleration Program for global startups by Huawei Cloud, announcing the launch of a startup platform in Europe in 2024. The platform aims to streamline processes, digitize services, and better support startups in achieving low-cost cloud adoption and agile innovation. Additionally, it will collaborate with Huawei's internal and external ecosystem resources to empower entrepreneurs, facilitate entrepreneurial ideas, and accelerate business success.

Mr. Zhang Yuan, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Huawei, stated at the summit, "Huawei has long been committed to nurturing global digital talent. Furthermore, the summit unveiled the Huawei ICT Academy Digital Badge, allowing teachers and students from Huawei ICT Academies worldwide to use exclusive digital badges on personal social platforms like LinkedIn to showcase their teaching and learning achievements.

To date, Huawei's various talent training and education programs have covered over 150 countries, benefiting more than 2.83 million individuals.
