By the end of 2023, there were over 300 commercial 5G networks worldwide, serving more than 1.6 billion users. 5G has entered a rapid development phase, with the global growth rate of 5G users being 7 times that of 4G during the same period. In 2023, in tests conducted by renowned global institutions, Huawei helped operators achieve top rankings in network experience tests in important cities such as Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Huawei collaborates with leading global operators and industry partners to continuously meet the growing business demands of new applications and scenarios in the 5G era (referred to as 5G-A), advancing 5G-A technology verification and network deployment to jointly explore new 5G-A business opportunities. To date, Huawei has assisted operator customers in launching 5G-A commercial verification and testing in over 20 cities worldwide. In the Middle East, 5G-A has become an industrial consensus, with all six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) completing 5G-A 10Gbps rate verification, as well as incubating new services such as RedCap and Passive IoT. In mainland China, the three major operators have initiated the deployment of 5G-A networks in key cities nationwide, and have fully explored the Five Connectivities business model involving people, things, vehicles, industries, and households. In Hong Kong, operators have completed 5G-A 10Gbps speed verification using C-band and millimeter-wave frequencies, and have begun offering 5G-A FWA services. In Finland, operators have completed 5G-A technology verification on commercial networks, achieving peak rates exceeding 10Gbps and verifying technologies such as Passive IoT. In Germany, operators have achieved peak rates exceeding 12Gbps using 6GHz multi-carrier technology.
During the MWC24 Barcelona exhibition, Huawei unveiled the communication industry's first "Big Model". Addressing the industry's goals of agile business provisioning, precise user experience assurance, and cross-domain efficient operations, the Big Model provides role-based and scenario-based intelligent applications to empower operators' employees, enhance user satisfaction, and comprehensively improve network productivity.
2024 marks the commercial debut of 5G-A, and Huawei will actively explore the evolution to the 5G-A era with global operators, building an ultimate experience, efficient collaboration, green and low-carbon, and highly intelligent ubiquitous network. This will drive the deep development of digitalization, leading the accelerated arrival of the intelligent world.
