With the flourishing of the digital gaming era, gamers' demands for software convenience and integration are constantly growing. Riding this wave, NVIDIA has finally launched NVIDIA APP (Beta version), designed to provide gamers with a one-stop gaming and graphics card management experience.
NVIDIA APP: Your All-in-One Integration
Compared to the previous GeForce Experience, NVIDIA APP appears much simpler, with a very clean page layout. At the same time, NVIDIA APP conveniently places key sections such as "Drivers," "Graphics," "Redeem," and "Settings" on the left side of the application for easy access by users.
Apart from its minimalist design, the main advantage of the NVIDIA APP lies in its all-in-one integration functionality. Previously, NVIDIA users might have needed to separately download and install programs like GFE and Broadcast to access their features, each requiring its own launch. Now, all these applications are consolidated under a single platform, streamlining the user experience significantly.
However, as of now, "Chat with RTX" has not been added to this application. It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA will include it in future updates.
The best thing about the launch of the new NVIDIA app is that updating drivers no longer requires logging in. Compared to the previous GeForce Experience, which always demanded login credentials, the NVIDIA app is much more user-friendly. Moreover, from my testing, this software logs in very quickly, with just a scan code needed, and there are no issues with server connectivity.
In the settings, we can also view some general hardware information about the host. Although we can't see specific parameters and manufacturers yet, we can get a basic understanding of the situation.
NVIDIA APP: Integrating Graphics Applications
The most significant change in this iteration of the NVIDIA APP lies within its "Graphics" section. On the graphics homepage, the NVIDIA APP scans for games installed on the player's computer (although it may not detect some games).
However, the major shift in this graphics setup is the integration of games from GeForce Experience and graphics card settings from the NVIDIA Control Panel into a single interface within the NVIDIA APP. This eliminates the need to separately manage settings using two different applications.
Through the software configuration, you can directly adjust in-game graphics settings via the NVIDIA APP. All graphics settings available in the game can be pre-configured in the app before launching, reducing the need for in-game adjustments. Additionally, you can utilize the one-click optimization feature of the NVIDIA APP to streamline the process, freeing up your hands with just a single click.
The global settings have been relocated from the NVIDIA Control Panel, with fewer options available for manipulation at present. For more extensive adjustments, users still need to access the NVIDIA Control Panel. However, it's certain that more features will be added to the global settings in the future.
Alt+Z: NVIDIA Overlay Enhancement
Whether it's the previous GeForce Experience or the current NVIDIA APP, the NVIDIA overlay has always been a handy tool, offering various functions such as screenshot capture, screen recording, and real-time frame rate monitoring. Many of these features have been upgraded.
First up is screen recording (video capture). Previously in GeForce Experience, the maximum FPS for video capture could only be set to 60FPS. Now, the maximum frame rate for screen recording can be set to 120FPS, which is very friendly for video creators.
Then there's the "Real-Time Stats" feature in the NVIDIA overlay, accessible by pressing Alt+R, which provides real-time frame rate information. Compared to before, this version of real-time stats can display more information, including latency data that wasn't available before, giving players the ability to customize their views.
Additionally, the display interface for real-time stats can be easily adjusted, making it very convenient.
The performance overlay that used to come with GeForce Experience didn't show up in this update, but I believe NVIDIA will be giving that section a major upgrade.
The emergence of the NVIDIA APP Beta version changes the previous situation where each NVIDIA application operated independently, allowing gamers to experience NVIDIA's integrated application ecosystem more directly.
At the same time, through a series of redesigns, some of the original settings in the new application also demonstrate previously unseen functionalities, offering greater customization and improved operability for gamers.
Although NVIDIA APP demonstrates its superiority in many aspects, being a beta version product, there are bound to be some shortcomings. Let's look forward to future updates from NVIDIA! We believe the official version of NVIDIA APP will be even more beneficial for gamers and users.
