On February 25th, Toyota announced a test drive event for the electric version of the AE86 model in Japan. This initiative is organized by KINTO, a service under the Toyota Group specializing in car subscription services.

Toyota aims to gather user feedback to further develop the vehicle. s_22677da96fe74690b684dd2db05ed3b9.png It's been reported that there are 13 slots available for test drives, open for registration from February 13th to February 26th.

Participants can enter through a lottery system, and applications for the draw are now being accepted.

It's worth noting that the price for this test drive event is 20,000 Japanese yen for a 3-hour session, approximately equivalent to 956.18 Chinese CNY. s_99d6b9c2fddb410bbfbe1b9e2afaf2c2.png As a recap, the all-electric version of the AE86 made its debut at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. Toyota showcased two "new energy" AE86 concept cars at the exhibition, one powered by hydrogen instead of gasoline, and the other being the pure electric version.

Interestingly, despite being an all-electric vehicle, the car is equipped with a clutch and a gearshift lever, allowing for manual transmission driving.

However, there have been reports suggesting that these two cars are conceptual vehicles created by Toyota's GR division in response to carbon neutrality goals and with a focus on driving enjoyment. It's speculated that they won't be mass-produced.
