According to reports from domestic media on February 21st, Mr. Li from Fuzhou revealed to the media that in May 2022, he spent 1.3 million CNY to purchase a Porsche Cayenne. However, on January 31, 2024, he found that the car doors could not be opened and the vehicle could not be started.

The diagnosis given by the dealership was that the damage to the battery was caused by a short circuit in the car charger used by Mr. Li.

They ruled out any issues with the vehicle itself and found abnormal discharging from the car charger when the ignition was off, exceeding the standard value by 2 to 3 times.

Mr. Li stated that he had only driven about 5,000 kilometers over the past year and a half, and had only charged while driving. He could not accept the dealership's conclusion.

He questioned, "They say it's my fault, which I find ridiculous and somewhat insulting to my intelligence."

Furthermore, as the vehicle is still under warranty, Mr. Li believes there is an inherent issue with the battery and demands the dealership replace it free of charge.

However, the dealership's after-sales staff explained that due to the long periods of inactivity and infrequent use of the vehicle by Mr. Li, the lithium battery's stored energy was relatively low. Combined with the abnormal discharging from the charger, this could lead to battery damage.

The after-sales staff stated that this was not caused by an issue with the vehicle itself, so warranty coverage cannot be applied. Mr. Li would have to bear the cost of replacement himself, and the dealership cannot repair it. The battery was quoted at 16,940 CNY.

Mr. Li requested written documentation from the dealership detailing the cause of the battery damage and indicated that he would seek recourse through a third-party assessment in the future. 20f8a029-2354-4089-a141-26c0c3f9efc5.jpg
