TechFast reported on February 21st that Xiaomi officials announced the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launch event is scheduled for February 22nd, and Lu Weibing has been promoting it on his personal Weibo account.
Today, Lu Weibing revealed more details about the materials used in the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. He stated that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be the first to feature a new material - Kona Leather.
This material has passed SGS five-star durability certification, with wear resistance 6 times that of the previous generation. To demonstrate this, he also provided a video of an experiment to prove the phone's excellent wear resistance.
- The video begins with a quartz sand friction test, showing the Xiaomi 14 Ultra repeatedly rubbing against sand and gravel, with no apparent scratches observed.
2. Next, the second experiment was conducted: UV aging test. The back cover of the Xiaomi 14Ultra was placed on a 340nm UV light panel and exposed for 16 hours per day, continuously for 7 days.
After comparing the original phone case that had not been exposed to UV light with the one that had been, there was no noticeable yellowing observed.
3. Stain Residue Experiment: Coffee, oil, and ink were injected into the back of the phone case. Then, the side covered with stains was rubbed against a plastic bubble wrap. The result showed no obvious residue.
4. Liquid corrosion experiment: Prepare two types of liquids. One is artificial seawater with a pH of 8.1, and the other is artificial sweat with a pH of 4.7.
At a constant temperature of 55°C, immerse two case backs separately in two different liquids for 14 days. As a result, both case backs showed no significant signs of peeling.
After undergoing these four rigorous tests, officials stated that the new Kona Skin material on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is resistant to scratches and abrasion in everyday use; common stains can be wiped off easily; it doesn't yellow or easily break even after prolonged use.
