TechNews, February 21st - Since realme officially announced the launch of the realme 12 Pro series phones on February 27th, realme's Vice President, Xu Qi, has been actively promoting the phone on his personal Weibo account.
Today, Xu Qi posted on Weibo stating that the realme 12 Pro series phones bid farewell to 200-megapixel cameras and ushered in a new era of smartphone photography in China. He mentioned that imagery shouldn't just be about flashy specs, but should go back to the actual shooting experience. The realme 12 Pro series phones feature flagship-grade periscope telephoto lenses. realme is indeed bidding farewell to the 200-megapixel race and opting for a periscope telephoto lens based on the imaging experience. He also posted two comparison photos, showcasing the realme 12 Pro+ and a competitor's device.
The first comparison photo features the 6x lossless zoom shot from the realme 12 Pro+ compared to the 6x digital zoom shot from the competitor's 200-megapixel model. (The background of the photo is a corner of a bookshelf).
In comparison, the realme 12 Pro+ captures the colors of the cushion more accurately, with overall higher color saturation and clearer image. On the other hand, the competitor's photo appears noticeably lighter in color and somewhat blurry. The second comparison image depicts a zoomed-in crop from the realme 12 Pro+ and a competitor's 200-megapixel model, both capturing a book.
In comparison, the realme 12 Pro+ image appears noticeably clearer, allowing for clear legibility of the text on the book with normal color saturation.
In contrast, the competitor's image presents several issues. Firstly, the text on the book is barely discernible and quite blurry. Additionally, the overall color appears overexposed and excessively whitened. After comparing, Xu Qi frankly stated that compared to the digital zoom of ordinary mid-range phones, the optical zoom brought by the periscope lens on the realme 12 Pro+ captures shots that are much farther and clearer! According to previous reports, the realme 12 Pro series is equipped with the only professional optical lens in its class - a 64-megapixel super-spectral periscope telephoto lens, making it virtually unmatched in its price range.
It features a suspended prism design, supporting 3x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, as well as ALC anti-glare coating and optical wave pattern.
Additionally, according to leaks, the realme 12 Pro has a rear camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX882, OIS) + an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens + a 32-megapixel telephoto lens (Sony IMX709, OIS).
