I. Introduction: The i7 Processor with 36MB L3 Cache
On January 9th, Intel quietly released two processor products exclusively for mainland China: the Core i5-14490F and the Core i7-14790F.
Previously, we conducted a detailed review of the i5-14490F, and now it's time for the i7-14790F.
Some might think that the specifications of the i7-14790F are similar to those of the i7-14700KF, but that's not the case.
This processor adopts an 8 P-Core + 8 E-Core design, totaling 16 cores and 24 threads. The P-Core has a base frequency of 2.1GHz, with a boost frequency of 5.4GHz and an all-core frequency of 5.3GHz, while the E-Core operates at a frequency of 4.2GHz.
The above parameters are exactly the same as the i7-13700KF, with the only difference being in the cache.
The i7-14790F has 36MB of level 3 cache, which is the same as the flagship i9-14900K, 6MB more than the i7-13700KF, and 3MB more than the i7-14700KF.
Here are the detailed specifications of the Core i7-14790F:
From the above figure, it's evident that the i7-14790F has a lower frequency by 0.2GHz compared to the i7-14700KF and is also lacking 4 E-Cores. As a result, its multi-core performance may be slightly weaker. However, the larger L3 cache is beneficial for improving gaming performance. Therefore, the relative gaming performance remains to be determined.
