Tech News on February 19th: The Tank SUV's new heavyweight flagship model, Tank 800, has completed development. Recently, spy photos of the vehicle undergoing road tests have been exposed, and it is expected to be launched this year.
Positioned as a full-size SUV, Tank 800, unlike the previously unveiled Tank 700, leans more towards a business and luxury style. After its debut, many netizens have dubbed it the domestic version of the "Rolls-Royce Cullinan."
Based on the official presentations and the recent road test images, it's evident that this vehicle embraces a retro design style. The front grille adopts a straight waterfall style, complemented by large square headlights and a square-shaped front end, giving it a rather sturdy appearance.
The side profile appears quite elongated, and by estimation, the vehicle's length is likely to exceed 5.2 meters, making it very spacious and imposing. Overall, it exudes a rugged charm reminiscent of classic models, and when it's on the road, it undeniably commands a strong presence.
In terms of power, the Tank 800 will be equipped with a 3.0-liter longitudinally-mounted six-cylinder gasoline engine, paired with a 9-speed hybrid-specific transmission (9HAT). Coupled with a P2 electric motor, it can achieve parallel hybrid power, with both the gasoline engine and electric motor capable of direct drive, similar to the setup used in the Tank 700 Hi4-T.
