Apple's Most Powerful Small-Screen Flagship! Sneak Peek at the New iPhone SE Highlights

Sat, Feb 24 2024 07:34 AM EST

According to reports from various media outlets, Apple may introduce a new lineup of iPhone SE models in 2025, featuring OLED displays.

It's reported that OLED displays offer brighter colors, deeper blacks, and better overall image quality compared to LCDs. The current SE series is the only iPhone still using LCD technology, so equipping the new iPhone SE with OLED displays will align it with Apple's higher-end models.

It's understood that Apple has already begun inquiring about screen supplies for the iPhone SE4, set to launch in early 2025. Currently, Samsung Display, BOE, and Tianma have submitted their quotations. 8ef88460-4dbd-4faf-961b-ee022e7f89f8.jpg According to reports, Samsung Display has offered a price of $30 (approximately ¥216 RMB) per unit, BOE has offered $35 (approximately ¥252 RMB) per unit, and Tianma has offered $40 (approximately ¥288 RMB) per unit. It's reported that Apple has negotiated the screen cost down to $20 (approximately ¥144 RMB) while ensuring quality standards.

The OLED panels used in the iPhone SE4 will incorporate recycled components and traditional technologies, resulting in significantly lower prices compared to the iPhone 15. Furthermore, the iPhone SE4 will utilize the same 6.1-inch OLED panel as the 2021 iPhone 13 and 2022 iPhone 14, meaning display panel suppliers won't need to make additional investments in research and development, thus drastically reducing costs. 5c90d393-cb61-4377-99d3-5c93946c40a8.jpg Currently, Apple has not finalized its OLED panel production partner, but Samsung Display is responsible for supplying screens for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, whose high-profit revenue can to some extent subsidize the iPhone SE4 screen product line, giving Apple more leverage.

Moreover, in terms of appearance, leaks suggest that the iPhone SE4 will upgrade to a full-screen design, bypassing the notch and adopting the punch-hole design, similar to the one seen in the iPhone 16 leaks. Though the back remains with a single camera, it incorporates Deco, making the overall design of the iPhone SE4 resemble the rumored iPhone 16. Additionally, there's a high likelihood that the iPhone SE4 will feature the A18 processor in terms of performance.

The iPhone SE4 is expected to be released in 2025, whether it's upgrading to an OLED display screen, adopting the punch-hole design similar to the iPhone 16 series, or featuring the latest processor.

From the currently available information about the iPhone SE4, it seems that the new model may bring some significant changes. With a fresh exterior design and internal upgrades, it's sure to perform better in the market. For those who prefer smaller screens, it's something to look forward to. s_f4d16f5400a048acb7a149d0b7e2a937.jpg
