Tech News Flash, February 14th - Today, according to the 2023 India Smartphone Tracking Report released by market research firm IDC, India's smartphone shipments reached 146 million units in 2023, with domestic smartphones accounting for over 60% of the market share.
The data shows that the total smartphone shipments in India in 2023 increased by 1% year-on-year to reach 146 million units. The Average Selling Price (ASP) saw double-digit growth for the third consecutive year, reaching $255 (approximately ¥1834 RMB). The share of the high-end market (priced at $600 and above) also increased from 6% in 2022 to 10% in 2023.
In terms of specific brands, Samsung's shipments declined by 5% year-on-year, but it still maintains its first position with a 17% market share, and its average selling price has also reached a historic high of $338 (approximately 2431 RMB).
Vivo (excluding iQOO) saw an 8% increase in shipments and a 9% increase in average selling price, achieving a market share of 15.2% and rising to the second position, also being the only brand among the top five to achieve growth.
Although realme's shipments declined by 12.9%, driven by its extreme cost-effective models, it still holds the third position with a market share of 12.4%.
Similarly, Xiaomi and OPPO, both domestic manufacturers, rank fourth and fifth, with market shares of 12.4% and 10.3% respectively.
The sixth-ranked Apple has the highest average selling price, reaching $940, while its sales volume also reached 9 million units.
When considering the top five, the market share of domestic smartphones has already exceeded 50%. Adding brands like OnePlus, Poco, and Transsion, domestic smartphones now occupy over 60% of the Indian smartphone market.
