Tech News Update on February 8th reports that since the release of RTX 40 SUPER, NVIDIA has been widely welcomed by gamers, leading to a soaring market share of up to 90%. AMD's only recourse in this scenario is to cut prices.
For instance, the RX 7700 XT, initially priced at $449, was on par with the RTX 4060 Ti in terms of price, but its performance was comparable to the RTX 4070. However, with the release of RTX 4070 SUPER, this previously cost-effective graphics card instantly lost its appeal.
In response, AMD has temporarily reduced the price of the RX 7700 XT to $353, a significant discount of nearly $100 from the suggested retail price. The new discount applies to two models: PowerColor Fighter and Hellhound, priced at $357 and $353 respectively.
The RX 7700 XT features the Navi 32 core, boasting 3456 stream processors, 54 second-generation Ray Accelerators (for ray tracing), 108 AI Accelerators, and 108 ROP units. It comes with a wide 192-bit bus and a substantial 12GB VRAM capacity. Overall performance is approximately 50% stronger compared to the RTX 4060.
The $353 price tag of the RX 7700 XT, compared to the $329 RTX 4060, may seem like a mere 8% difference, but its performance at 2K resolution can outstrip the latter by around 50%. Additionally, it boasts an extra 4GB of VRAM. With such a significant performance advantage, even with ray tracing enabled, the RX 7700 XT effortlessly outperforms the RTX 4060, making it unrivaled in its price range of under $400.
