19 Teams from 9 Countries Win Top Awards at Huawei's Largest Offline Competition

On May 26th, the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 Global Finals were held in Shenzhen. This edition of the competition was the largest offline event in Huawei's history, attracting over 80 countries and regions, more than 2,000 institutions, and over 170,000 students to participate. After national and regional selection rounds, over 160 teams from 49 countries and regions, comprising more than 470 participants, made it to the global finals.

Following intense competition, 19 teams from 9 countries including Algeria, China, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, the Philippines, Tanzania, Turkey, and Uganda were awarded the top prizes in the practical and AI innovation categories. A team from Pakistan received the Best Social Media Popularity Award, while teams from China and Morocco were honored with the Green Development Award. Peng Honghua, President of Huawei's ICT Strategy and Business Development Department, outlined Huawei's determination and actions in cultivating ICT talents. He emphasized that ICT is the cornerstone of the intelligent world. Through the ICT competition, Huawei aims to create an international platform for ICT competition and exchange.

Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, mentioned in a video address that UNESCO is committed to upholding the fundamental rights and agency of every learner and teacher when applying digital technologies, especially artificial intelligence. They aim to create an inclusive, fair, open, and secure digital future for all. Huawei's ICT competition provides such an opportunity, and heartfelt thanks were extended to Huawei and other partners for their long-standing support.

Zhou Hong, Director of Huawei's Strategic Research Institute, stated, "To ensure that everyone truly benefits from the fundamental progress of digital technology, Huawei believes that ensuring the inclusiveness of digital technology is crucial."

On the day of the closing ceremony, Huawei also held the ICT Accelerating Education Transformation Summit. For the first time, 24 "Most Valuable Instructors" were selected globally from ICT colleges, thanking them for their outstanding contributions to teaching and talent development, setting a benchmark, and using the best people to train even better individuals to promote the sustainable development of the ICT talent ecosystem.

The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual ICT event for global university students created by Huawei. It provides an international platform for competition and exchange for university students. Since its inception in 2015, the ICT Competition has helped enhance students' ICT knowledge and practical skills, cultivate their innovative capabilities in using new technologies and platforms, drive human technological development, and support global digital inclusion.
