In a recent incident in Zhejiang, a Cervélo bike worth almost $5,000 was accidentally knocked over, resulting in damages amounting to $38,148. This incident has garnered widespread attention.

Now, a similar event has occurred in Tianjin, where another Cervélo bike was accidentally knocked over.

Reports indicate that due to unsuccessful negotiations earlier, the owner has decided to resort to legal means to address the issue.

Video footage shows a man placing the Cervélo P1 bike against a wall, accidentally bumping into it, and then quickly trying to pick it up, but the damage was already done.

It is known that this Cervélo P1 is a limited edition "Rainbow Phantom" version, valued at nearly $130,000. The owner has not specified a claim amount but has opted to hire a lawyer to handle the matter through legal procedures.

Some netizens have expressed their views:

  • While the bike is indeed valuable, placing it in such a manner in a public area inevitably leads to such minor accidents, which can be considered as abnormal negligence and understandable. The owner also has a responsibility to enhance protection. Demanding high compensation for such negligence, though legally permissible, may not be reasonable.

  • For valuables beyond the common person's understanding, one cannot expect the general public to have a high duty of care, especially in public places.

  • Honestly, is it appropriate to casually leave such a valuable and fragile item by the roadside?

  • Buying such an expensive bike indicates the owner can afford it. If it exceeds your imagination, it means you lack the purchasing power, which is not unreasonable. s_e857579018f4464dad25ab7af0a6947b.png
