News on April 8, according to China Railway, on April 1, the new Shangjiagou Tunnel on the Xi'an to Yan'an High-Speed Railway (Xi-Yan HSR) was successfully and safely penetrated, laying a solid foundation for the entire line to be completed and opened to traffic on schedule.
The Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed railway is a pivotal component of China's ambitious "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" high-speed railway network, specifically forming part of the Baotou (Baoyin) to Haikou corridor. Spanning approximately 300 kilometers and designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, the completion of this railway will slash travel times between Xi'an and Yan'an to roughly an hour.
Originating from Xi'an East Station, the route threads through several stations including Gaoling, Fuping South, Tongchuan, Tongchuan North, Yijun, Huangling West, Luochuan, Fuxian North, and Ganquan North (existing stations), terminating at Yan'an (also an existing station), with nine new stations being constructed along the way.
The largest Xi'an East Railway Station is located in the central business and office core area of the high-speed rail east city in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. It is a mega-scale comprehensive transportation hub integrating high-speed rail, conventional rail, subway, and bus services, with a station size of 17 platforms and 35 tracks.
Inspired by the concept of "Qin Mountain and Wei River, the Silk Road and Chang'an," the station building is designed with a magnificent atmosphere of the Qin Plain's vastness, featuring a dynamic and well-arranged rhombic roof form with undulating elevations.
The front facade adopts a fluid arc shape, depicting the flowing motion of silk, symbolizing Xi'an East Station as a new landmark along the Belt and Road in the new era.
